PBNET – Proving That Reality Is Changing

Start / Stop Asterisk PBX from command line

First, SSH to the Asterisk server and login as root.

Get in Asterisk prompt with verbose: asterisk -vr
Use the command stop now to shut down Asterisk.

Starting Asterisk is actually rather straight forward. Asterisk, if run with no arguments, is launched as a daemon process:

/usr/sbin/asterisk

You can get a CLI console to an already-running daemon by typing

/usr/sbin/asterisk -r
